Kandi Burruss Addresses Criticism of "Stay Prayed Up"
4:38AM Sunday
March 24, 2013

As a music industry veteran and reality television star, Kandi Burruss is no stranger to criticism.  But she tells TheYBF that negative feedback about her "Stay Prayed Up" single, featuring Marvin Sapp, touched a nerve.

"At times it made me feel really bad," she tells the site.  "But other times, I was just like, you know, I've gotten used to people having things to say.  I was just doing what's true to me."

Some people argued that Kandi shouldn't be recording gospel music, especially considering her resume, which includes launching the sexually candid web series Kandi Koated Nights and line of adult toys called Bedroom Kandi.  Still, "Stay Prayed Up" has resonated with some music lovers.  Despite that, though, Kandi tells TheYBF, "I would like to do more gospel, but at the same time, I don't think people are ready for that from me."
